The Recorded A Cappella Review Board
The Recorded A Cappella Review Board (RARB) is a website dedicated to the preservation and advancement of recorded a cappella music through critique. The organization was founded in 1993 by Chris Tess as a means to give a cappella groups a chance to have their album reviewed by a knowledgeable board, and to give potential buyers and listeners insight into the general body of recorded a cappella work. RARB review compilations are posted on the RARB web pages, located at http://www.rarb.org/. The review board is made up of a cappella performers, creators, and fans from all over the United States with different perspectives on a cappella.[1]
RARB is coordinated by Kimberly Sailor, and Robert Dietz serves as the current director of marketing and public relations. Reviews are compiled, archived, and distributed by Michael Marcus. Current reviewers are listed on the RARB website.
A RARB review consists of the written opinions of three members of the board, along with numerical ratings in several categories for the album. Reviewers give their overall impressions, and are instructed to rate the album against the "general body of recorded a cappella." Ratings are given on a scale of 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest).
